Tara National Park, return to Montenegro

Hello everybody. On Wednesday morning, I set out from the hostel and did a little bit of exploring around Tara National Park with the car. Since I had a 4 hour drive to Montenegro, I didn’t have time to do a swim or hike like I had hoped to, but I still enjoyed the scenery from the car.

After doing some looking around in Tara, I hightailed it to Montenegro since I had a ways to go and wanted to have time to hang out with Stephan and Alex at the hostel in Durmitor. I saw some nice scenery along this stretch of the drive as well.

Rural Serbia
Border police hassling somebody, but they let me through in 30 seconds. You just never know that you are gonna get at the borders here…
Wide open road in Montenegro

Once I arrived at the hostel, we picked up right back where we left off a couple weeks ago. Music and hanging out with the hikers and great vibes. I just love spending time at the hostel with these two guys, and I was glad to get to see them again for a night!

Alex set me up with a gig at a hostel for the next night and helped me plan my upcoming drive through Albania as well, so it was also productive!

Private room, on the house. My money is no good with them, as much as I insist. They are like family to me!
Only payment accepted is in bourbon 😂
Stefan is an animal, but he was feeling a little rough at work this morning.

Today I made the two and half hour drive from Durmitor back to Podgorica, where I had a reservation and gig set up. There was some more nice scenery on this stretch of road, but it was interrupted by an accident between a semi and a car. It actually turned out to be very minor, but they blocked the road for about a half hour for some reason and everybody just got out of their cars and walked around annoyed. Finally they moved them out of the way and we snaked our way through and made it on down the road.

Everybody wondering what the hell is going on
Getting really backed up
There’s the problem
It was basically just a fender bender. The truck took the sharp turn too wide and clipped the back body panel of the car. Not sure why they didn’t just take pictures and move them out of the way sooner.
Approaching Podgorica

I arrived to the city and stopped for some dinner, and then checked into my hostel. They were expecting me and said they couldn’t wait for the music tonight. I was pretty tired, so I got rested up until it was time to play. I set up in the garden, and I wound up playing for about an hour to a very attentive audience. At about 1130pm, the police showed up and said the neighbors called because we were too loud – so that was the end of the show. I enjoyed it though, and made about 10 euros in tips and sold two more CDs. A guy watching sent me some video clips:

“Blowin’ in the Wind” always a crowd favorite

“Jolene”

That’s about all the news that I have for today. Tomorrow I’m driving to Tirana, Albania and I’m excited to see some more new territory as I make my way to Athens. Talk to you soon!

Enjoyed the pics of the park but the shot of Podgorica looked like a photo in an art gallery. I played both of the short videos that someone had shot at your show and they turned out well. I’ll see you in Albania!!
